About 6 7/8” x 4 ¼” with reverse blank. Mounted in protective mat. Trott was a noted miniaturist in Philadelphia at the height of his career 1793-1819. Tisdale had some engraving contributions and worked from about 1794-1835 in Philadelphia and later Boston. John Jay was an American statesman, Patriot, diplomat, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, negotiator and signatory of the Treaty of Paris of 1783, second Governor of New York, and the first Chief Justice of the United States. He directed U.S. foreign policy for much of the 1780s and was an important leader of the Federalist Party after the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1788. Died in 1829. Likely period print.
