Light pink or a soft red colored ribbon which appears to be very close to its original color. About 7” long with fancy scalloped edges left and right. At first glance this might appear to be one of the several stacked jugate ribbons made around this same time period for other candidates. However, when you understand the candidates who appear on this ribbon then it certainly jumps up into a very special level. Jugate Fillmore ribbons are all exceedingly scarce and most are rare. This is an unlisted design but there are a couple of known examples, one is a very dark red color and the second a cream colored. We are not aware of any other examples of this design in any color. Clearly rare and clearly an important political artifact. The ribbon is in great shape. With some fade in the pink/red color in a few places but the color is fairly even on both front and back. There is some fraying that is invading the lettering at the bottom but this can be held in check with care. Fraying at the top but a decent amount of selvage remains before the lettering. Great ribbon. Estimate: $2,000-3,000
