About 10” x 8” folded and mailed with reverse showing addressee and Clay franking with signature above address. Directed to Ohio man. Talks about the “great victory” in the recent election and “Jackson cause” receiving a “dampers from which it will never recover”. Goes on in next paragraph to let this person know his “proposed road will be ordered next Spring or Summer”. Clay helped elect John Quincy Adams as president, and Adams subsequently appointed Clay as Secretary of State. Both signatures pretty bold. Overall browning of paper and at folds some darkening especially on the postal side. Some weakness along the folds.
