FDR Signed Typed Letter As Assistant Secretary of Navy Department March 1, 1918

8” x 10 ½” conveying award of “Eyes for the Navy”. Apparently, there was a drive in American for citizens to supply “binoculars, telescopes, spyglasses…. against submarine activity of the enemy during the Great War”. Comes with original large envelope (which has moderate browning of paper). Signed letter has toning in center mostly just above signature where the actual award is extra fine. Believe the signature on the award is likely printed but may be actual. Large Navy Department watermark on letter. Lot of 3 items.
