These sulfide artifacts are some of the most coveted items for 19th century collectors. Each of these were handmade so even the same design had subtle differences which makes them all unique. The horizontal forms are the most common form used so finding a design using the vertical form (longest side displaying up) is scarce. This particular design has the log cabin with a flag mounted at the top and a cider barrel on the left side. The slogan is fixed top and bottom of this cabin. There are some chips missing from the black field as shown but the beveled glass cover has no chips or cracks. Enclosed within cased gold brooch with original pin on reverse. Overall a really great example with few of these every being perfect. Estimate: $1,400-1,800
